$1200 is more than just a number. Kaiser workers show us what $1200/month means to them if Kaiser took their pension away.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii is trying to take away the guaranteed pensions of their workers. Local 5 members who work for Kaiser will lose at least $1200/month when they retire at age 65, if Kaiser takes away their pension. $1200 is more than just a number. It’s food on the table, caring for your family, putting a roof over your head.

Good jobs for everyone means decent wages, full family medical, and a guaranteed pension. We want $31 for everyone. We can’t do that if Kaiser workers lose their guaranteed pensions. Getting old shouldn’t hurt.

What you can do

On March 2014, Local 5 launched two TV ads featuring City Councilmembers Stanley Chang and Joey Manahan saying #NoToKaiser and informing the public that Kaiser is trying to take away their workers’ guaranteed pensions.

On May 2014, many delegates and elected officials at the Hawaii Democratic Convention also said #NoToKaiser : Kaiser, don’t touch workers’ pensions!

You can also show your support by posting #NoToKaiser on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. You could also send your photos to us and we can post them on our Facebook page.
