- Recently there has been discussion about banning smoking in beach parks. I believe Councilmember Anderson successfully pushed a bill that banned smoking in Kailua Beach Park. Others may be under consideration.
There are no notable beachfront areas in District 6 except Kewalo Beach Park.
- There has also been discussion about placing restrictions on electronic cigarettes. It’s not clear whether they are less likely to cause cancer, or whether the second-hand smoke is less dangerous. E-cigarettes have already been banned from the UH Manoa campus.
